Does anyone know of a way to like, regulate the power output of the ports on the M2 Mac Studio?
Or like of a better external SSD/HHD that isn't bad?

I have these SanDisk SSD 1tb externals that overheat so easily that they will un-mount at the slightest provocation.
They are really fast but they get so hot that i cant use them as external storage because of the power output issue.

I recently bought (now returning) a WD external SSD that was causing a kernel panic and CPU issues when transferring files onto and off of it. I'm 100% serious that this stupid little 2tb ssd caused my while mac studio to crash because of a single unity file.

In all seriousness, should i just wait to get something different and trade this thing in?

I dunno, Man . . . my three TB3/4/USB4 (I don't even know how to define the currently-whacky nomenclature) externals--Acasis TBU405x2+Maiwo K1695--hover just North of 40C, and never drop a connection 🤷‍♂️

I'm not sure I've heard of a power output issue having anything to do with an SSD disconnecting due to overheating.
It came from the overwhelmingly stupid power usage these SSds do. But like idk they overheat and then just disconnect

I don't have fan cooled enclosures for these because their External SSD's not internal SSD's in an enclosure.

His Acasis enclosures are fanless but the Maiwo has one. I haven't had any issues with my Acasis TBU405 Air fanless enclosures with my daily routine except for finding out about my Mac Studio's Thunderbolt limits. Originally, I had the SSDs in a couple of 10gbps enclosures and DID get disconnects when I was cloning hundreds of GBs to one of them from my old drives.

I guess it's possible that pushing my SSDs in the current enclosures with a heavy load might cause issues but I've got no reason to test them.
