My Mac studio is in an awkward space under my desk with he left side against a cupboard side with the statutory large collection of cables going out the back, turning it on is a right pain, has anyone tried one of those robotic smart button pushes?

Just a mad idea but every day I have to scrabble my hand behind it careful not to dislodge anything, I would leave it on but as our electric prices have gone through the roof I've started powering down the studio at night.

Mac Studio (2022)
M1 Ultra 20-Core CPU & 48-Core GPU, 64 GB unified memory, 1 TB SSD
Power ConsumptionThermal Output
IdleMaxIdleMax
13W215W44 BTU/h734 BTU/h

Mac Studio (2022)
M1 Max 10-Core CPU & 32-Core GPU, 32 GB unified memory, 2 TB SSD
Power ConsumptionThermal Output
IdleMaxIdleMax
11W115W38 BTU/h392 BTU/h

Note that "Idle" reflects the power used with only Finder open, using the default power management settings. Sleep would consume less.

What’s the robot’s power draw at idle?

lol I've measured the Studio and my ole Mac Pro, to say I'm shocked at the power draw difference is an understatement! but it's not the Mac power that concerns me now it's all the rest of the gear, I'm a mix engineer/producer amps, speakers, interfaces, outboard etc etc..
My office iMac which I've just sold remained on for the past 5-6 years :) apart from the odd reboot now & again!

A Switchbot bot would be ideal for this.

Leaving a Studio on standby for eight hours costs around 1.5p. The bot is about £25. If my maths are correct, you'd need to be switching it off every night for over four years to get back the cost of the bot. Is it worth it?

I have the same old Mac Pro and am also a mixer/producer, and also want to hide my Mac Studio away.

I have an RME Madiface USB and a bunch of drives attached and have just tried to 'sleep' my Mac Studio for the first time, and the screen (ACD 30 via various adaptors) didn't come back on and I couldn't use the mouse or keyboard (currently connected to screen via USB) to wake the computer. I used the button on the back to wake the computer and the screen didn't come on. Had to do a hard restart.

Anyway, probably more of a 'using a very old screen' issue, but it's worth checking if sleep works for you in the first place!
