Just picked up a new Mac Studio but something is baffling me. Every morning I come through to the office and it's powered off. I've checked the usual settings in energy saver etc and done some googling but can't find any suggestions.

Something is bugging me though... I'm sure I've had this with a Mac desktop in the past but I'll be darned if I can remember how I fixed it.

Machine is running the latest macOS, I've tried unplugging the webcam and SSD to see if that makes a difference, but nope.

Any ideas?

Sounds like the power in your office is dirty. Get a UPS Battery Backup system. At the very least, use a surge protector.

There's no issue with the reliability of the power in the place or it being dirty and this is the only device impacted which is weird.

I've never bothered with a UPS for my home or office kit to be honest, just can't see the benefit at all.

Hmm.. interesting take. You would spend thousands of dollars on equipment but not protect the sensitive electronic components in them for less than $120. At least spend $20 on a surge protector.

Regarding your Mac Studio issue... in the morning after boot, is there an error dialog popping up about your Mac having shutdown because of a “problem”?

We've got surge protectors, but in 40 years of having personal computers for work and home use, I've never once had a machine damaged by a power surge or a power cut causing an unexpected shutdown. My job won't be impacted by any downtime where stuff is unavailable either.

There's no messages like that which makes me think there's some random, hidden setting triggering a graceful shutdown. Trying to avoid reinstalling macOS...

Is your Mac Studio enrolled in company MDM?

Apple are baffled so want the machine returned and they'll replace it.
