Has anyone received their Mac Studio earlier than the stated shipping time?

I'm wondering if I should just cancel the Mac Studio order and hold out until the new Mac Pro (M2?) is announced.

A significant majority of people who ordered an M1 Max. Mine, ordered April 1st, was six weeks early, and that wasn't unusual. With the end of the lockdown in China, current estimates may be quite a bit more accurate than they were a couple of months ago. I haven't checked lately, but I assume that Max lead times have shortened considerably.

You're right that machines with M1 Max are shipping faster. I ordered a nearly loaded MBPro at the same time as the Mac Studio and it was at my door in under 2 weeks.

The Mac Studio is the Ultra model and shipping is estimated at 10-12 weeks.

I started a thread about waiting for the M2 Mac Pro and wonder what others think who are waiting too.

If you thought Mac Studio wait times were bad, can you imagine the Mac Pro?

I would hope that as 'supply chain' issues subside shipping times for both would improve, but who really knows what will happen at this point?

My understanding is that the Mac Pro, for the U.S. and perhaps the Canadian market, is made in Texas. If that doesn't change, and assuming that supply of components is adequate, speed of delivery, at least in the US, won't be dependent on issues such as coronavirus policy in China.

Timeline:
Monday July 18, 2022 - Ordered Mac Studio MAX/64/32/8TB
Friday July 22, 2022 - Pending Charges for Mac Studio and Care+
Expected Deliver - August 10-16 by Express shipping

I was hoping since they put the charge on my credit card that I would have gotten it this Friday July 29. Not going to happen. I start a new job hosting a Internet call-in talk show Monday August 1 11AM-2PM weekdays "Living with disabilities". So much for getting it ahead of time so I don't have to mess around with a new computer after the show has started.

I did originally order July 10, but cancelled as I was going to wait until Mid August ship date (and it was only 4TB), now I am screwed dor the launch of this show. But the upgrade to 8TB long run is worth it, for recording live, editing, posting the audio podcast, live-stream etc.

Apple won't charge your credit card until after your computer has shipped. What you saw is a hold on your card for the amount, not a draw against your card.

Update:
Ultra base - ordered 4th June from Apple - Country: US

Delivery window: 27th July - 10th August

Today is the first day of delivery window. No movement yet.

This seems to confirm what has been seen. Max lead times became much shorter and ships in many cases early even with special configuration.

Ultra with standard config still on 8 to 10 weeks and not shipping early.

Oh well, max. 2 more weeks if they stay within window.

My order placed July 11 for a MS Ultra 20core, 48GPU, 128GB, 4TB showed 10-12 weeks delivery time.

Just grabbed a higher spec Ultra refurb that's coming today and cancelled other order. It will be nice to be up and running 2.5 months sooner.

Ordered a base M1 Max (1TB) on the 18th (9 days ago) in the UK.

Just got notified that Apple have taken payment, which I think implies that shipping is imminent?

My order hasn’t updated yet and my shipping window hasn’t changed from the original 19th - 26th Aug, but if it really is about to ship then I can confirm that M1 Max Studios do seem to be moving quite quickly now.

Apple does not take payment until after your order has shipped. There's an express statement to that effect on its website. It does put a hold on the funds, which probably show on your credit card statement as "pending" or similar. The hold can be placed up to a week before shipping, sometimes longer. During the Shenzhen lockdown, there were some instances where Apple withdrew a hold and revived it later.

Thanks - maybe that's what I'm seeing.

Payment is coming from my company bank account. My banking app notified me of the "payment" and I can see the funds have gone from my account balance. However when I look at the transaction itself it's showing as "pending" so as you say, the funds are probably "held" not cleared.

Still, it's progress of a kind.

I'm seeing base model Max available in Apple Store for same day pick up in Los Angeles.

Ultra shows about 8-10 weeks for base model, 10-12 weeks for anything else.

Unfortunately LA is a bit too far for me to travel ;).

I've actually seen them available here in the UK too (on the refurb store), but only 512GB ones, not 1TB.

Haha... :p

Looks like the base Max models are becoming readily available. Good luck with your purchase!
