Would appreciate insights on this.

  1. My MacBook shows as a MacBook icon on my Airplay network (as seen from ATV, iPhone, iPad, etc).
  2. My Mac mini shows as a Mac mini icon on my Airplay network (as seen from ATV, iPhone, iPad, etc).
  3. However, my Mac Studio shows as a MacBook on my Airplay network (as seen from ATV, iPhone, iPad, etc).
Functionally there seems to be no downside to this, other than the confused visual cue. But I'd like to fix it.

It's a mystery to me. The Mac Studio is relatively new, and was a fresh install. But I had it "take over" a TimeMachine backup that used to be backed up to a MacBook Pro. So I wonder if it now thinks it is that MacBook Pro!

What version of macOS/iOS install on your other devices? Version older than Mac Studio? Before Mac Studio exist?

It's a thing, apparently. The TM restore brings over metadata etc from the other Mac and it sometimes gets fouled up.

It might clear up on its own.

You could monkey around with Network, Bluetooth, and Airplay settings/cache.

Everything is up to date. Latest OS on everything. All my devices are no more than one year old

Ok I might try fresh install and not recovering the TM
