Hello,
As many of you probably discovered, I recently purchased a MacBook. On June 8th, 9th and 10th, I will bring it to school for exams. I am not worried about the exams (I am well prepared), but about being able to show off da MB! I wanna show them all the cool features and stuff, and though Tiger is easy to find out, I would like to recieve a little training from someone experienced with Tiger. As you can see in my sig, I have a Mighty Mouse. I don't know how to program the two side buttons differently, and how to rename the computer. Not the computer, but the place between "desktop" and "programs" is called "josiassvendstorp", and I would like to name it "Josias". How do I do? Also, how do I take screenshots, and make an actual jpeg file on a mac? I used to pres "prt screen" om winblows, and the press "paste" in Microsoft PictureIt! 2001, but I am an OSX newb, and would like to learn a bit, so if anyone can quickly answr these questions, or perhaps even guide me through somehing on msn/iChat AV, it would be tah cool! Thanks to anyone taking time to help!

Open your system preferences, click Keyboard & Mouse, it's in there. Or just use Spotlight (up in the top right of your screen) and search for "Mouse".

I believe what you are talking about there is the name of your home directory. This is also your login name. The only way to change that is to make a new user called "Josias" instead.

Command Shift 3 for full desktop screen shot, Command Shift 4 for selecting what you want to screen shot. It will appear as a file on your desktop. Also if you press Command Shift 4 then press the space bar you can select a particular window to take a screen shot of instead of trying to select it with a selection tool (that makes no sense in writing but you'll see what I mean when you press the buttons). If you would like to save it in the clipboard instead of making a direct file on the desktop hold down the Control key also. The paste it into whatever document you want.

I will love you forever if you call it Windows instead of Winblows.

You might consider getting "Mac OS X Tiger: The Missing Manual" as it is a very good book for learning.

Allright, I won't say Win***** anymore. And I am very grateful for your help, but the mouse thingy, in sys prefs, i go in on mouse, and it shows my moghty dude, but I can only program the two sidebuttons for one specific command. For example "Open iTunes". I would like these two to do different so I open a safari window on the right, and iTunes on the left button! How?

Oh, BTW, I don't think I wanna get that book, but one more thing. How do I change icons for for example the harddrive. I would like it to be an icon of a MacBook. I've seen people with icons of MBP's, iBooks and PB's. I would like this.

They aren't two buttons. You have to "squeeze" the mouse to use that "button".

Dunno for sure... might try "Get Info" on the HD, drag the new icon to where the old icon is pictured. It seems so simple that it might just work.

I found out, you have to copy the new icon, press "get info" on the files/folder, ad click at the top left icon, and press "command-v". :p

BTW, I have the Halo 3 announce trailer in .wmv format. How do I play it on an Intel based mac?

You might be able to become a beta tester for Flip4Mac here. The public beta universal binary should be announced soon (was supposed to be in early May I think).
