Im so torn!

On one hand, I LOVE the specs and potential of the PS3. All that horsepower, the cell processor, the history of great games, the potential media powerhouse all make for a compelling product...

However, Sony reminds me soooo much of Microsoft. They are so bull-headed, their proprietary formats are just too much, and Blue-ray seems like the next gigantic mistake...Additionally, Im not sure I want to drink the Sony Kool-aid and get restricted into buying media through their system, which will likely mean I will need one of their devices...

Now, the Wii seems like a lock for me: I have 3 kids, and they love my old-school NES...its actually quite funny to see how much fun they have with these old games. But alas, my system is nearing death...The wii will offer downloadable versions of their old games, and that alone is almost worth the purchase. Their wiimote seems like its getting nothing but great reviews and I am excited to try it out..

On the other hand, the stupid thing can only muster graphics of current gen systems...and that makes me nervous. Will the developer embrace this system, or will wii get left out of the "game"

Now, the 360 is actually looking like a pretty darn good product, which I am still in amazement over. I love their dashboard...Ive been very impressed with their xbox arcade...(I had way too much fun playing Defender and Galaga last weekend at my freinds house)

But again, this thing looks like its trying to define my media experience, and Im not really ready to abandon my commitment to Apple...

So, what would everyone here do? Are you buying a PS3, should I go to the darkside and get a 360? Does the wii have what it takes?

I voted wii as it was a mac community question and you only have to look at the gaming section to see how many Nintedo fan's there are in the mac community.

another vote for Nintendo because i think the PS3 is overpriced and not that great (from the early reviews i've read). i simply don't like Xbox - nothing against Microsoft, just not my favorite of the gaming machines. i've always been a Nintendo kind of guy (my first system was SNES, followed by N64 and a PS2 - the N64 outperformed the PS2 in my opinion; i also like playing my friend's Gamecube but that is certainly not Nintendo's best).

I could only vote for one so I chose the Wii, but I currently have and enjoy and Xbox 360 and will get a Wii when they become available.
So my actual vote would be for a Wii360 :)

If you go over to the gaming forum on here, you'll see almost everyone has or is getting a Wii, and almost everyone is happy with it.

Personally, I'm gonna get a 360 when the Xmas deals start kicking in. I'm not buying it to 'redefine my media experience' or any of that b*llocks, I'm simply getting it to play games. My Macbook will always be my media centre. I'll get a Wii at some point down the line, but at the moment there are not enough good games which have been designed specifically for the Wii to justify the £180+ (plus all the other stuff you have to get). Plus the lack of online play on the Wii (at the moment) is a bugger - I've never tried online play before and I guess the 360 is the best way to start.

I'm simply not getting a PS3 because I don't want a pseudo-computer. All that money for the PS3 could be put towards a Mac Pro, which would be far more useful for me :p . Right now, the PS3 represents simply awful value for money.

Assuming you live in California, get an xbox. That way my bf can have one console of a better chance of getting a ps3, and I can have a better shot at getting a wii. :p

Got a 360 and think it is an excellent piece of kit. Really like the integration of XBox Live into everything. Biggest irritation is the volume - its damn loud.

I'm torn between the 360 and Wii as well. I think I'm edging towards a 360 but I'm waiting for a killer deal from a store before I get it. Though if I see a Wii in a store this week I might just buy that instead because I feel caught up in all the hype.

ok, its getting worse...I just played both the PS3 and Wii. Initial thoughts: The PS3 is almost as good as the 360...I was expecting better.

I LOVE THE Wii!!!!

Those controllers are brilliant.

I suspect someone from apple working nights over at Nintendo...

The 360 is such an awesome console in so many ways (especially XBox Live) that I don't even consider it a Microsoft product. If Microsoft did everything the same way it did the 360, everyone would love them, imo.

Wii is in 2nd place.

Poo on Sony.

I actually voted PS3 because if I had to pick one console to have, and price wasn't a factor, I'd pick the PS3. That said, I think Nintendo is the most like Apple out of the big 3. Having played with my brother's Wii, I was quite impressed. Aesthetically, it's very nice and the controller is really cool. The graphics are not really impressive, but they're not bad either. I don't like Nintendo's first-party games, like Zelda and Mario, so that's not a selling point for me. I hope there are some good third-party games coming for the Wii.

All in all I think the Wii is most Mac-like if that makes sense, but even still it's probably not my personal first choice because I don't like Nintendo's games, while I do like Sony's games (some of them anyway).

I want the Wii for all the typical reasons I don't feel like explaining right now.

I have a 360 now and I would reccomend it. Good games are finally coming out, and I really want to play Gears of War. Xbox Live is fantastic, and the whole console is just good IMO.

I have a 360, but I really want to play Madden on the Wii. I'll probably get the PS3 in a couple of years when the prices come down a bit. Each console offers so many different things, it's just hard to pick one.

Already got a 360 - nicely fills the gap left from my PC gaming days. If only I could do something about it being so bloody LOUD! Love it though.

And a Wii on pre-order. Looks like its going to be a brilliant social console for the lounge.
