Im so torn!
On one hand, I LOVE the specs and potential of the PS3. All that horsepower, the cell processor, the history of great games, the potential media powerhouse all make for a compelling product...
However, Sony reminds me soooo much of Microsoft. They are so bull-headed, their proprietary formats are just too much, and Blue-ray seems like the next gigantic mistake...Additionally, Im not sure I want to drink the Sony Kool-aid and get restricted into buying media through their system, which will likely mean I will need one of their devices...
Now, the Wii seems like a lock for me: I have 3 kids, and they love my old-school NES...its actually quite funny to see how much fun they have with these old games. But alas, my system is nearing death...The wii will offer downloadable versions of their old games, and that alone is almost worth the purchase. Their wiimote seems like its getting nothing but great reviews and I am excited to try it out..
On the other hand, the stupid thing can only muster graphics of current gen systems...and that makes me nervous. Will the developer embrace this system, or will wii get left out of the "game"
Now, the 360 is actually looking like a pretty darn good product, which I am still in amazement over. I love their dashboard...Ive been very impressed with their xbox arcade...(I had way too much fun playing Defender and Galaga last weekend at my freinds house)
But again, this thing looks like its trying to define my media experience, and Im not really ready to abandon my commitment to Apple...
So, what would everyone here do? Are you buying a PS3, should I go to the darkside and get a 360? Does the wii have what it takes?
