Many sites with video have recently switched to Windows media Player 10.0. To date, there is no version 10.0 for macs.

If I want to open a file there I have to paste the URL into RealPlayer then it will open via Quicktime. Is there a way that either RealPlayer or Quicktime can open these files by default. A sample site is http://www.big-boys.com/

to get to play windows media player 10 files...get vlc...seems to work fine for most windows media 10 files....just some don't seem to play correctly....also, check the prefs in each media player to select what to open by default...and finally i would recommend not using windows media player...seeming that i've always had probs with it...and it doesn't seem like it's gonna be updated.

There is a WMV codec that some company sells for Quicktime, that might do what you're after.
