thanks for reply, I’m asking for a friend, unfortunately it’s the only photo they have 🤦🏻‍♂️

Quick Gogling shows the prominent component to be a power IC for a MBA!? Surely your friend can provide more information than just such a minute part of the board? I take it they're trying to find out the exact model of the MBA?

I'll take one last stab at this with the assumption your friend is after the exact model. But let's try it via a possibly different option.

If, this MBA is attached to an iCloud account, and if they can access that from another device eg iPhone they can try going to:

Settings>Apple ID (at the very top), scroll all the way down to see if that particular device is listed. Should this be the case, the following information could be available: Model, OS version and Serial Number.

Many "ifs" here but I'm just guessing from what little information is provided.

Hi, appreciate the effort, friend is trying to find out whether the photo is possible to be from pre 2018 model max air, it’s related to identifying a possible scam.

Many thanks

Oh, was way off base. Hate scams and hopefully your friend gets to the bottom of it.

Short of members here removing their MBA lower covers, might be worth emailing this pic to: https://www.rossmanngroup.com

Love or hate this guy! Fact is, that he does a heck of a lot of mac logic board repairs and could probably identify it in a heart beat. Might be worth a shot?

Good luck.
