I have a usb hdd I use on my Samsung UN40ES6100. I tried to copy some files to my Mac, but it won't mount the disk. I'm guess the HDD is formatted in something my mac can't read.

Does anyone know what the format is or suggest a program that will mount and read the HDD?

I've tried several mounting programs without success.

After I followed your suggestion the HDD works on my Mac...?

Thanx

well that was helpful. I suppose that diskutil makes the OS aware that unmounted disks are connected, the OS follows up by mounting them. 'diskutil list' normally lists the partitions on connected disks, and what the partitions are formatted as. I thought it might have been formatted as something obscure.)

I'm not sure it noted any info, it just seems the HDD works now.
