Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone would be able to advise. I’ve been wanting to upgrade my MacBook Pro from my 2014 13 inch one which is now just getting too old unfortunately.
I ordered a 16 inch from the mac store and noticed quite quickly that my hands, arms and wrists were hurting when I used it, unlike the 13 inch.
So I ordered a 14 inch MacBook Pro from Amazon to test the difference. Still the same issue - pain in hands when using etc.
So I returned both of them and decided to think on it some more. Now I’m still using my old MacBook Pro for more basic tasks like emailing, browsing, typing etc but I don’t have the same discomfort as the newer MacBooks. Has anyone experienced this or has a solution ?
I am mainly wanting to upgrade for music production and video editing and obviously all the other everyday tasks too. I do like to use a laptop on the couch a lot of the time but I’m not sure this is going to be workable going forward with these issues I’ve been having.
Does anyone have any similar experiences or solutions ?
 
Sounds like symptoms of carpal tunnel.

M2357, I can’t imagine why you have pain only when using the new devices, assuming all other things are equal. The only difference seems to be their size. But I imagine even small changes in arm position can affect things. I switch between a wrist compression brace and a tennis elbow support, depending on where the pain is, and on how long I’ve been wearing one or the other. They work unexpectedly well.

You are going to have to change to a desk/table to get anywhere with your pains (carpal tunnel). Your forearm should be roughly horizontal and the laptop horizontal. You might want to add a wrist rest (foam pad) to that configuration.

Just writing about this makes my wrist hurt a bit.
