..so what ? Since i'm finally about to get a macbook (that darkstar) from a local
..dealer in a few hours, i like to contribute some tasty details to the mad crowd.
..After getting paranoid with all the new infos, i told the dealer that i have to test
..the mac before i put the money on the table ..that way or adios amigos ..
..
..I'm a mac user from back in '94 but lately converted to the "Gates", my main
..interest lies in WinDos functionality ..and i'll tell you some really cool details.
..So everything here is seeing the macbook mainly from the dark side (windos),
..no french fries attached but hopefully some tasty info for you.
..
..Booting into windows, i felt a la maison ..quickly ckecking dual screens in the
control panels, no problem second monitors as you know it ...BUT what's that ?
..
..There's a 200MB partition "hanging around". I don't know what happens if it
gets deleted, i guess it's all about bootcamp. NEW: This partition is needed for
WinXP, not so much for Vista (there it gets/can get deleted during intallation)
Vista h/eats up your Macbook, so i'll stay with XP ...Let's do onboardsound
..:p
..ASIO works good via Asio4All 5 ms ..WOW (didn't do 3 ms but will do later)
Headset microfone input works fine, no additional amplifing is needed (if i'm
not wrong, it doesn't works unamplified on OSX ...additional PC partitions ?
..
..The MacBook windos install process gets in trouble during installing, if you
have two partitions for windows. That means, for now you have to stick with
one partion for the Gates. That has to be testet deeply ..i like hidden system
partitions which can be bootet just for Music or Games. EDITIED: TRIPPLE
BOOT with Linux works via the terminal as it is described on wiki.onmac.net
http://wiki.onmac.net/index.php/Triple_Boot_via_BootCamp ...Juoni ?
..
Runnin a really good Registry Cleaner Tool (RegCleaner by the Juoni Vuorio)
system backgroundtasks can be seen ..WOW ..about 5 apple tools running
in the background ..Windows time is now MacTime.exe ...WHAT NOISE ?
..
Since i haven't seen any french fries coming out of the floppy bay, (okay)
i now wanted the hear some serious NOISE coming out of the macbook !
Also cows and elepants (na!) should be heard (moooiing noise) from time
to time ..BUT there wasn't anything. So w per minute
(don't know the english) what the fan is able to do. That's really okay for
me, since i could'nt hear much of any fan-activity on 2000-3000 rounds
per minute ..No mooohhh ..WWOOOOW
..
Sitting at the most calm place at the dealer office next door, hearing the
awful noise of the LaserPrinter heating up two tables away i thought:
Let's buy that thing ! and trash that 200Mb partition on the first run :)
..:)
MacBook is cool as Pismo was ..and if you like the Gates of Darkness
you can even switch ..that is the most cool feature on the planet today !
I won't switch to OSX again, BUT i've bought a Mac for running the Gates
I guess i've seen the light !

You should leave a small OSX partition installed for running Mac-only software. You never know when you might thank yourself for doing it.

..
..don't get me wrong, i bought LogicAudio for Mac OS9 running on a pismo and
..i'm very happy getting back to it now ..since it became a mac only program
..and over 4 years i couldn't find equal functionality in any pro pc based soft-
..ware. (for example the "enveloper" in logic audio, simple easy and effective..
..i guess it's still there in the recent versions)
..
..diskvise: since 40/40/40 doesn't work for mac/pc, i go 40 / 80 on a 120 drive
..

..And since there was no noise, it was quite boring.
..
..Because the new MacBook Core2Duo comes with a power supply i used it.
..YEAH ..WWOOWW ..there IS some NOISE with the computer on DC power.
..
..very little, but definately there >>highfrequent random noise<< from the
..top left of the macbook ..just where the power cord gets connected
..
..other sources already now about it. the noise goes when the camera is on
..but it's still there when you use a mouse. the macbook is calm on batteries.
..
..testing three different power supplies didn't change the mini-fuzzling noise.
..AppleCare knows about the mini-fuzz thing, but on the earlier models (CD)
..
..after all, noise was found and i felt good about it  ..yeah "..und when sie
..nicht gestorben sind, dann noisen sie noch heute" (stupid final story thing)
..
..so where are the fu++ing french fries now, i'm hungry (..i prefer ketchup)
..

edited: and the noise goes if you are running the macbook c2d on one cpu or
you boot into windows ..mmhh, what's that ? ..better aks the dots ??

etited2: there's no dc-board to exchange, the motherboard has to be replaced

and I didn't get the thread's title either.

Hacker/Geek/speak, with a veiled reference to a old Mac development codename (can't remember which program Darkstar was) and jest about the heat that everyone whines about...
