Macbook 2009 speakers

Ever since I upgraded to Mountain Lion, my built in speakers arent playing any sound. I go on iTunes put that volume up and i put the volume on the top of the screen all the way up and i still get no sound. i plug in my headphones and i dont get any audio. any other problems like this

yea, internal speakers is selected.
