My A1990 Macbook Pro (Intel) run's very hot near the fold of the screen and the fans do not come on. It is also hot when left overnight in sleep mode, with the lid closed--discovered each morning. Seems to have begun after the Sonoma 14.7 update.

I miss-spoke on the version agree 14.2.1, which upgraded today. I regularly shut the machine down—typically weekly. I recall reading on Intel SMC reset occurs on power-cycle, yet a daily shutdown would be more akin to a microsoft product. I have opened it up and dust level in the fans was minimal—but still cleaned it up a bit while open.
