Since Apple has been playing all these ads about how mac are perfect machines and PCs are crap. I think I'll comment on them from a perspective of someone who has used both recently.
I'm talking about recent PCs, (of course current macs are better thn PCs over 5 years ago.)

1. Surgery, the one where the PC is upgrading to vista, its full of lies.
contrary to what the ad says, you DO NOT need a faster processor to run vista premium. you just need 1G of ram.
if you have a recent PC, then upgrading to vista is straight forward.
you dont need a better graphics card, it'd be nice though.

2. iSight, the one where PC gets a webcam taped to his head.
lots of PC monitors have webcams built in, all HP notebooks offer it and lots of PC deals will give you a webcam free.
and those webcams are 4x as defined as the built in iSight

3.Accident, the one where the mac is in a wheelchair.
the magsafe never stays in unless the macbook is sitting still.
the Pc may get ripped to the floor becasue of user carelessness but at least you can charge it while its on your lap and you dont have to worry about moving your leg. and PCs you can charge while its in the bag.
and other ports on the macbook dont pop out, like when i ripped the macbook to the floor when i tripped over the ethernet cord. magsafe is awful also because I can never charge it fully at one time, so the battery is always changine status, so the macbook never has any idea how much battery life it has left. sometimes there's an X, sometimes it has 600 hours left...

4.Angel/Devil, the one where PC is tempted to rip up Mac's photobook
you can make photobooks on PC, the only difference is that you have to do it, the computer doesn't do it for you. same for iMovie, GarageBand, Comic Life.

5. Self Pity, the one where both are wearing suits.
Mac says I've been doing work stuff... i run MS Office.
have you ever tried to run MS Word or any other office software on a mac?
not fun. frustration. sloth. unresponsive. even with 1 G or ram.
the commercial ends with PC saying "let me lie here and depreciate"
oh yeah like Apple products dont depreciate faster.
once you buy one, a remasterd version or a Revision 2 or something better comes out within the next 3 months.
how many times has Apple updated the macbook since this time last year?
the Core 2 duo update, the n wireless card update... on and on.

the rediculous Surgery Ad sparked this anger.

I think you have a little to much time on your hands. If you are such a die hard Windows hugger go to a windows forum why waste the time on a Mac forum if you hate it so much.

Just on this point, I have to say mine stays in nice and secure – no problems with it falling out at all. I can wiggle my leg quite a bit if the mood so takes me, and it stays in place. Mind, it makes it hard to type if I wiggle too much so I tend not to.

You have a mac, can you people quite complaining. I hear maybe 1 out of 10 people actually complimenting how good their laptop is. I myself am loving my laptop. I have a high end gateway gaming laptop and a c2d blackbook. I love my blackbook 10X better than the gateway. Why doesn't this message board bring any happiness, just degrading of their product which they spent their money on. I myself won my macbook off of a local radio station, so i didn't spend any money on it, but after using it (and loving it) I will definitely not be going back to a PC anytime soon.

Just to make you feel a little better, I love my PowerBook G4. It is perfect. It has flaws and I love those too. I also have two PC laptops. I hate them. Not just because they run Windows, but because they are loud (and I mean loud), hot, they squeak at the tiniest of flexing, etc. And I hate Windows with a burning passion so that never helps.

That said, I am looking to buy a MacBook just as soon as they ship with Leopard. :)

Since when has advertising turned into a business of absolute truth? If they did that, advertising would be dull (most is already) and no-one would be able to sell you anything.

This is a cute thread. But I like it, and I'll tell you why.

Some people might compare this to going to a Windows-fanboy forum and posting about how you hate Windows and love Macs - nope. Not the case. Unlike going to a Windows forum, you actually get intellectual responses here. Why? Here's why - Who uses Macs? Intelligent people.

Go to a Windows forum and post about how you like Macs, what do you get? All sorts of "nu uh, fool", "r u k1din me, d00d?", "ahha your dumb", "mac sux they are teh crap" ...

Complain all you want, but the response that you get from complaining only pushes the fact that smart people use Macs, and old/dumb people use Windows. Geniuses use Linux.

I rest my case.

Good call guy.

I second that!

I too have a PowerBook G4 and love it. There's no machine I've ever owned before that makes me feel the way I do about my Powerbook. Being an IT Specialist for IBM, I have to use Windows every single day... And I hate it with a passion... Makes me wanna slit my wrists. The only thing that keeps me sane is getting home to my MacBaby at night.

Ahhhhh... Sheer Bliss :D

People are still happy with Pismos. Whose happy with a PC laptop that old?

ONE macbook update - core2duo and n were in the same ONE update.

Kind of off topic, but I love it how people can still be happy with Pismos, and at the same time some current MacBook Core Duo owners get so whiny when C2D's are released, as if their machine is obsolete now or something.

Hey, if Preisdent Wayne Palmer from 24 uses a MBP (so does Chloe, and about every other member of CTU), then it is good enough for everyone.

well, seeing how vista told me that my pc couldnt install the os, i think the vista ad is the one with the most truth. hell, its only six years old. its a pentium four. why isnt it supported. yea. it has 256 of ram but the g4s at school all run tiger. i mean. if you have to make such an impressive [with sooo much sarcasm] operating system, why is it so much heavier than the one its copying all the junk from.

ahem...

I LOVE MY MACBOOK.

While I was waiting for it to come in the mail, I went over to a friends house and used his BRAND new Sony Vaio, and it felt like a toy in my hand. It was bulky, felt like it was going to fall apart in my hands, and it crashed twice while I was using it.

My macbook is sleek, stylish, stable, and solid. I couldn't be happier with it!

Speaking of Magsafes, I have trouble removing it without yanking it forcefully. Mine stays in and does not come out easily. I always remove it by pulling on it at a 45 degree angle so it just pops out.

I have an old 350mhz powermac g4 running Tiger with no problem other than being slow sometimes simply because it's EIGHT YEARS OLD. I plan on installing leopard on it when it comes out, and I'm sure it'll still work fine.

My powermac is pretty much retired now because I recently got myself a blackbook.

But think about it, try running vista on an eight year old PC, you can't, it doesn't work. Now I forget what this thread was about so I'll stop now.

vive le mac.

I don't get the complaints about the magsafe adapter. I'm pretty happy with the one on my mbp. it stays plugged in when I want it to charge, and when I left it plugged in on the kitchen table and the dog tripped over the cable it came out without a problem. As for vista and video cards, I have a machine that was pretty good 3 years ago when I built it. AMD athlon 1.8, 1gb ram, and a radeon 9700/256mb ram. Installing vista I was greeted by a nice message telling me that my video card would not support aero. So video card replacement may very well be in the future of vista upgraded pcs for a lot of people. So I replaced my video card... with a 24" imac. And when it comes time to upgrade my wife's gateway, it'll be to a 15.4 mbp. I've learned my lesson.
