This is Tom Bihn Cache sleeve for the 11" Air.

Nice fit and adds minimum bulk yet the padding is thick enough for protection.

There's a long thread on sleeves here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1044155/

I've been following this thread for a long time, but it wanders and is hard to keep up. The two sleeves mentioned in this thread both seem very promising to me. I can't figure out a conclusion from the other thread other than helping me realize that I don't like corduroy.

The Tucano seems promising. I wish the strap was removable. I'd normally use the sleeve inside a backpack. I'm sure there's enough room for it. I like the idea of not requiring the backpack and being able to use the sleeve by itself. But if the straps are too bulky, it defeats the whole portability purpose of the MBA.

I pre-ordered Tom Bihn Cache. The one I got initially was a bit too tight. (probably they had to make the case without having the Air?) I contacted them, they addressed the issue, sent me a replacement with more relaxed fit and let me keep the first one. I'm happy with their customer service.

The flap tacks in very nicely. MBA's hinge part is fully covered by the flap, and the foam padding is a bit denser than Incase sleeves that I had for older MBA 13" and MBP 13" (the incase ones might be broken in over time though).

I, too, am not a big fan of zipper closure. I was debating between TB Cache and SFBags' sleeve. The SFBags sleeve was a bit too "nicely made" with higher price tag, especially with the optional flap that adds another $15. It's a nice sleeve and you can configure to make it as an independent bag with strap rings and piggy-back compartment for accessories. It's just that TB Cache was simpler and cheaper, exactly fitted to my needs.

All in all, I'm happy with Cache.

Tom Bihn's web site says the cache can be used inside a backpack. Assuming the backpack has no laptop protection built in, how safe is it if the backpack was to drop on the ground by accident, will it protect the MBA? Would you guys trust it?

I'm in the process of considering using my existing backback and new sleeve option.
