Hey All,

I have recently spilled water on my Macbook Air 2015 and it is gone. How can I use the flash storage from that mac book to my other Macbook Pro?

Is there a device where I can insert the flash storage and use it as a Flash Drive?

I would really appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Imran

You can also put it in an external SSD enclosure. I think OWC sells one for for around $100.

So I can just open up the Macbook Pro and swap its SSD with Macbook Air?

What about the MacOs on Air?

It will not affect my Macbook in any sort?

Which MacBook Pro do you have?

Having MacOS on an Air SSD and putting it into a Pro should not be a problem. I've done this before and vice versa.
I have MacBook Pro 13" 2015

Correct, as long as the 2015 MPB doesn't require an efi password.
Hi Mate.

Thank You so much for your help... I have replaced and copied the data..

now I am thinking to keep the old SSD into the MBP.

Is there any difference between these SSD's?

Thank You again for your prompt reply...

Glad it worked!

The Samsung-made drives are the fastest SSD in the Air/Pro line. The SSDs with Marvel or SanDisk chips are slower. I had a Marvel which was almost half the speed of the Samsung.

You can use this app to test the speed: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/blackmagic-disk-speed-test/id425264550?mt=12

The SSD from the 2015 Air can be used in any Pro (late 2013 to 2015) and Air (mid-2013 to current model).

External USB enclosures for the 2015 Air SSD is around $100 USD: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/MAU3ENPRPCI/

For SSD from 2015 macbook PRO, most of SSD are nVME SSD(Samsung MZ-JPV2560,MZ-JPV512,MZ-KPV1TOT
Toshiba:THNSN2128GSPS). The external case can't support. The cheapest way is to read SSD from Mac wifi port: http://eshop.sintech.cn/28pin-20132016-macbook-ssd-to-18pin-macbook-wifi-card-p-1272.html .
But we have another expensive choice with both card together: http://eshop.sintech.cn/2013-2014-2015-macbook-pro-air-ssd-to-m2-ngff-pcie-adapter-p-1096.html and http://eshop.sintech.cn/usb-30-31-m2-nvme-ssd-external-case-p-1274.html .

The SSD drive from an early 2015 Air worked in the OP's 13" Macbook Pro which is the important thing.

The SSD enclosure I linked specifically lists the 13" Macbook Pro as being compatible with the OP's 13".

The Sintech adapter is good if you buy the right model.
