both are at 8gb ram

which is better for online classes that requires zoom videocall?

i know the 2015 is great for multitasking except video editing

so i just wonder for videocalls like zoom while doing multitasking (browsing and office) simultaneously

which is better?

Even though it's an i7, its a dual core processor with a pretty low clock speeds. In stock configuration the 2012 is not ideal for multi-tasking by todays standards, also not sure how well Zoom would play with the older Intel HD graphics on the 2012. I would lean more towards the 2015 for the improved iGPU.

For reference Zoom and MS Teams will ramp up the fans even on my 2020 MBP 10th Gen.

The newer the better. The components, i.e battery, screen and fans will be more long lasting than the old one.

I actually moved from a 2012 i7 to a used 2015 i5 this year!
The difference in heat and battery consumption is extremely noticeable and appreciated.
Performance is just a lateral move in every aspect except for a faster GPU.
The 2015 Air will still be supported with Big Sur in the fall, but the 2012 Air is left behind.

So in every aspect, the 2015 Air is, if not the same, better.
