macbook air 2014 usb to vga

hi,

I have a MacBook air and until now I used mini-DisplayPort to VGA but recently it just stopped working (I suspect it because the system update to 10.15)- I tried anything I could find on the web.

I'm thinking to buy a USB-3.0(male) adapter to USB-type c (female) and a USB 3.1 Type-C to VGA but I'm not sure if it possible to connect it this way, did anyone try it?

also if you some tips to solve the mini-DisplayPort problem that will be a big help
