Macbook Air 2016 Are Good For Progamming

Hi i have plan to bought Macbook Air 2016 13" 256GB 8GB RAM, i'am use for programming like Android Studio and Xcode, with Processor core i5 1.6-2.7Ghz are smoothly running software programming + emulator ?

My wife is a programmer, and uses a 2012 13-in MBA. This is a 8GB model with 256GB storage, and whatever the fastest CPU at the time. A few years ago she had me update the storage to a 480 GB OWC SSD (she uses large data sets in her work). She was just mentioning the other day how well this works, even though it's 5 years old.

I have a Mac mini 2012, i5 2.5 Ghz and it's very slow with Xcode 9. The simulators takes a lot of memory, and it takes a lot of time to compile.

If you buy the MBA, test it with Xcode 9 to check how the machine performs.

Just to be clear, there is no such thing as a "2016 MacBook Air", the newest model is the 2015. In 2017 they added a slightly faster CPU chip (1.8ghz) but did not change anything else, so this is considered a 2015 MacBook Air as well.

I know a decent amount of web and iOS developers that love their MBA's and seem to handle most task; I wouldn't use the notebook for 4K FCPx editing. Xcode can be taxing so I'd highly advise to stay away from the baseline MacBook, you will see the beach ball. On a side note, one of the best iOS developers I personally know use to rock a base 2012 11" MBA and switch to a base 12" MacBook and was extremely disappointed compared to his base 11 MBA.

As long as there is no thermal throttling even the m3 2017 MB is on par with the last i7 Air

I had a 2012 Air and now a 2016 MB. And all I can say is safari feels snappier
