Macbook Air and iCarbon

Hello,

I'm planning to buy the next Macbook Air as soon as it comes out (and firsts reviews appeare). So I've found this pretty "protections" from iCarbon. Everyone on youtube and on forums is talking about how easy (or hard) the installation is. But nobody is talking about how the installation of this sticker effects the cooling as the case is part of it. So the question is:

Does the installation of icarbon protection a negative impact on temperatures?

Don't know for sure, but unless it's blocking the vent in back, it shouldn't affect heat much. The air runs so cool anyway that even a minor heat increase shouldn't be a problem.

On the flip side, the icarbon sounds like a disaster waiting to happen when trying to get it on. As the web page says: "May require minor heat to conform to the corners and an extra set of hands to make things easier."

Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen trying to get the thing on. And then once you've botched it, is the surface of the Air permanently messed up?

My Air looks just fine as it is ... I see no need to geek out about making it look 'custom'. Just use the damn thing and don't mess with the appearance of it.

No such effects in the current MBA

Hey man,

I asked the same question regarding the current MBA to the guy who posted this video on youtube. And this was his reply:

"The MacBook air has a fan and vents. It vents from between the keyboard and the screen along the black bar when there screen pivots. We have had the iCarbons skin on our MacBook air here in the office (That is used constantly everyday) for over a month now without a single issue :"

So unless the next MBA relies on some other method of air ventilation, shouldn't be a problem

I have icarbon top and bottom...5 hours on ac and i still have a temp of 115

No prob using them(shown with sfbags.com simple suade sleeve)

I have the iCarbon. It was not hard to put on if you follow the instructions. No heat issues what so ever. I did not use any heat on the installation. It is about 1mm short of the edges, but I am ok with that. It only is going to protect against scratches. Nothing else.
