I've gone with the MBA ultimate 13". Great computer. Transfered Fusion 3.1 Windows 7 (32bit) VM from white macbook smoothly. Problem - can't use devices like superdrive, isight etc. VMTools installed OK. Bootcamp drivers seem to be the issue. It thinks I have version 3.1 but I can't find this anywhere so suspect it is not installed. Software updater says should update to 3.2 but as this is incremental it can't install over the missing 3.1.

I'm sure there is a solution somewhere... Searching on the web hasn't given any answers as these seem to require a bootcamp partition. I am not using a bootcamp partition (and even if I wanted to, I couldn't as I have partitioned the start up disk and bootcamp needs an unpartitioned disk).

I've put this under MBA as it seems to be a problem specific to MBA's.

Bootcamp drivers aren't meant to be installed inside a virtual machine because you're not running on a Mac; you're running on a generic PC. You can connect various USB devices to the virtual machine manually, but otherwise, the drivers shouldn't be installed anyway.

A solution

I've done a bit of digging around on this and now have version 3.2 of Boot Camp drivers working on the MBA.:D

First - Fusion does need boot camp drivers. Here is a link on how to install them: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/mi...nguage=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1012885

Second - i was able to follow these instructions using Superdrive and a CD version of Snow Leopard. There are still glitches and I haven't tested out bluetooth, isight etc but it seems to work. I don't know if the same technique will work with Remote Disc.

I have not found a way to do this using the MBA software re-install drive. It doesn't seem to allow you to explore the drive so you can't find the Boot Camp drivers.
