I would like to preface this by stating that this a 2013 MacBook Air with the MagSafe 2 connector. For quite some time, I'd say for a couple of years or so, that my charger port hasn't been able to connect my charging cable completely. It seems as though the magnets are wearing down but I can't be sure. I've attached a photo of the charging port on my laptop. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to MacBookAirism!
Im on my 3rd power apator, but i rigged my 2nd adaptor to work last june.
Before you go crazy, see if the MBA connects with another power source.
Apple store or habbiby who sells refurbs macs in his shop a mile from your dwelling can help you.

I own a battered macbook air 2010 that works today!

Well, if you want to rule out the actual cable, you can go buy a new one and see if it solves your problem. If not, return it. If it's the actual I/O your options are 1) take it to Apple and pay to have them repair it, 2) Have an unauthorized place like The Rossman Group take a look at it, or 3) Replace it yourself with one of these.
