Just did the firmware update. But, the flicker on the test site is still there.

Too bad

It would probably require a graphics update to fix that. But my LED MacBook Pro (not the new design) has the flicker and I've never noticed any problems, so I don't really think that's really an issue.

I'm most interested in the firmware updates fix the lines problem on the Rev B MacBook Airs.

Might be me, but any one think the screen is a bit more yellow tinted?

Don't even suggest it....

All the threads on horizontal lines made me believe i had them.....I do not now need to think i have yellow horizontal lines and no 4 finger gesture!!! :p

Sadly kinda agree... though, the brightness got reset as part of the firmware update, so punch it upto max and have another look

Mine locked-up halfway threw the install. Just hung on the white apple screen for more than half an hour. Finally rebooted from the install CD, and restored. I'm trying to install it again now. Wish I knew what I was going to all this trouble for.

Hey,

I've just unpacked my replacement unit again (already prepared for shipping back to apple) and installed these two firmware updates.

The screen stays the same crap as before. Terrible flickering and grey lines.

Tom.

Mine still has lines as well, but I did not really expect that to change. I hope it does not take as long to charge up now.

Do you guys/gals feel the lines can be fixed through a firmware update or do you think it is a hardware issue? I'm considering getting the Air in January(the 1.6 one if it ever gets out to be sold) so this is a concern for me.

I have one sitting here in front of me that I am keeping, and just dealing with it's line problems for now. But in my opinion, it's definitely a hardware problem. I purchased Applecare, and expect them to fix this at some point.

Still no 4 finger gesture? (Rev. B. MBA)

Why do they advertise this feature in the first place?

Bummer.

Its not a hardware issue. If you read the other threads you will have learned that it is a software issue. Rev B MBAs in Europe came loaded with the Rev A OS. It will be corrected in 10.5.6, or if you cannot wait call apple and they will ship the install dvds to you.

And incase you are wondering why they do not just do a software update to those effected, well apple have no idea how to identify the model that need it and those that do not, that is why they are putting into 10.5.6 which will go out to everyone.

I am more interested in what has changed in 1.1 for the MBA, the firmware notes lack any real detail.
