I wouldn't have very high hopes on these hard cases for MBA. I used one before for a macbook. Even for a relatively thick MB, I noticed the increase in thickness with the case on, and ended up returning it.
For something as thin as the MBA, a hard case will definitely make a MBA look bulky - which sort of defeats the whole purpose of MBA. For this reason, I would go for something like the invisible shield instead.

Already have the full invisible shield on my Air right now, but just trying to protect this bad boy from anything.

I use the Spek hardshell with my MacBook Air and don't think it's bulky at all. No real added bulk. At least not to me.
i have used both the speck and the techshell on my mbp's in the past. i recently purchased a mba and was attracted to the speck shell. so much i actually bought one. i felt it did not add too much bulk but enough that it bothered me. that however, was not my real issue that ultimately led to my returning the shell. the construction is such that the corners of the lower case flex and actually slightly detach whenever i picked up the laptop with one hand. now i do not know how you might move about a room carrying a laptop but i would generally leave the screen open and hold the machine by a corner. the speck shell would snap over the edge and flex a bit.. to me it was an unsettling situation that i was unsatisfied with. YMMV.

What I would be interested in is a hard shell case with a Kensington lock built in. Preferably the lock, locks the case and the lid too. That would be a great product for those who work in semi-secure environments e.g. large offices etc.

Why do you think the MBA needs a plastic hardcase surrounding its thick metal body? I hope you dont take this as an attack, I am genuinely curious as to why you think it needs this. To me it seems like a good idea for a softer skinned MB or PC laptop, but with the Air's metal body it seems excessive.
The body of MBA is aluminium. It is one of the lightest metals, and it also is non-conducting (with is good to be used as electronic chassis). However aluminum is also one of the softest metals. It actually scratch easily when rubbed against most of other metals; e.g., your watch, door knobs, metal zippers.
As a satisfied user, you don't notice the "detaching" phenomenon hogprint mentioned (I'm not exactly sure what he/she means)? And you think the machine vents OK with no added heat generation? The grip isn't slippery?
