Hello guys my brother is getting me the MacBook Air intel i5 . I wanted to ask is it good enough for online school as in Microsoft teams meetings ?
And also does Microsoft office work with it ??? I have read several bad reviews So I don’t know what to do should I ask him to cancel it ??? Excuse the silly questions but I never got a Mac before

Hello, yes definitely you can run MS Teams and Office on the MacBook Air. Microsoft has a Mac-compatible version, everything is interoperable with the Windows version, you can share and work on the same files as a Windows user, etc.

Also if you really needed to, you could also load Windows since it’s an Intel model. (You would just have to pay for a Windows license). So it is a really safe choice, whereas a PC laptop cannot run macOS.

Yeah, the MacBook Air i5 will definitely do Office applications and Microsoft Teams. Might want to consider buying the Apple Silicon version of the MacBook Air as it’s a bit faster and easier on the battery life. This assumes you don’t have any old intel only academic software programs your college may want you to use and even those may run fine.

I used a MacBook Air 2015 11’ for three years and even did World of Warcraft on it to an external monitor (yeah I wasn’t easy on it). These laptops are tough little things that can handle a lot. As with anything, nothing is perfect, but Apple has a good habit of standing by its products. Get AppleCare+ if you can afford it.

My wife and I got our MacBook Airs at BestBuy during an extreme sale ($650/each) in 2015. So if you’re looking to save money, keep an eye on that.

i5 is plenty capable.
