MacBook Air is dead after starting Catalina update installation

I started the update installation for Catalina today – December 15 – and it started for a bit, it said that “the screen would go dark and it would restart several times”. Well: the screen went dark but then nothing happened. It won’t turn on, etc. I’ve talk to Apple support and they gave me instructions for trying to re-wake it using different keystroke combinations.

Has anybody else experienced this?

any ideas?

have you done what apple suggested? you can also try resetting nvram & the smc for your air (google for your model). which air is this?

I tried all the keystroke combinations; taking it in to a Genius Bar tomorrow after work...
