MacBook Air & Leopard & already old:(

Hi All,
I bought a MacBook Air (my first mac!!) on January with top features (1800 €) and first I am very sorry to know that it is already old because of the soon refresh..but seconly I would sell it and then buy the new version.
Before do that I would know if Lion will work well on the 2010 version, do you know it? did someone already try the betas on the Air 2010?

Well considering Apple did all the demos on a Macbook air I think it'll run just fine. Its not really anymore demanding than Snow Leopard.

Was this also your first computer or electronics? New models with better features is a way of life and has been for decades.

There are 3 types of Technology Purchasers;

Version 1 - Buy when the new models first come out and complain about the price
Version 2 - Buy just before the new models come out, then complain they should have waited.
Version 3 - Buy what they need, when they need it and don't complain.

Before do that I would know if Lion will work well on the 2010 version, do you know it? did someone already try the betas on the Air 2010?

The only time new software would not run on old hardware is when Apple dropped OSX support for their old PPC-based line of Macs.

That is not entirely accurate. Lion officially requires a Core 2 Duo or greater processor. You can hack the software to run on Core Solo systems but it is definitely not supported.

Core Duo systems were dropped, ie 32bit processor architecture. Did Apple ever sell core solos?

There were Core Solo Mac Minis when they first switched to intel.

All Intel Core Solo and Core Duo processors are not supported. Below is a list of Apple computers not supported by Lion along with the release date and processor type.

It's not old. If it can run everything you do then it's fine. Don't get into the mindset that you must have the lasted and greatest, it will never work in this age of technology turnover. There are people with the iPhone 3G/S who are very happy. My brother still uses the plastic MacBook from 2008 and he's very happy.

And, yes Lion will work on a 2010 MBA.

Still very happy with my iPhone 3GS... and since iOS 5 is going to run on it, I'm still holding out for a true LTE/4G iPhone to appear. Not really interested in a 4GS if they release one, I want the iPhone 5!

Ivy Bridge is my next possible MB upgrade... MBPs might get a full redesign next year, or maybe an IB MBA... this C2D does everything I need today. By then, we'll see what Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 has to offer... still waiting for someone to come out with a single connector docking solution via Thunderbolt (well, that, plus the separate power connection).

Will get Lion though!

to be honest I investigated a bit more and I have to admit is was not correct said "already old" because I think that MBA will eventually exit in September/October..exactly one year after! so sorry for the mistake, I was confused by the facts that in Italy MBA came in november, I bought it only in january and used it not so much because a lot of work around the world with an usual windows thinkpad (t520 very great!) )...so it's why I suffered in hearing all these rumors!
Glad to read all these comments (thanks Hankster) also because there is inside also something regarding iphone 3gs, my actual phone! and I am waiting for the 5 too
