Hello there! I am a Graphic Designer and I would like to purchase a new Macbook after the WWDC because atm I Have a desktop Mac and I would like to travel with my Mac and with the Mac mini it's impossible as we know... what configuration do you suggest?

In italy the prices are very high so any cents is important to me

MacBook Air M3 24gb of ram vs M3 Pro 18gb or M3 Max?

I use a Affinity Suite, Pixelmator Pro, Linearity Move and Curve and Luminar NEO as my main softwares.

Thanks for your help

I have a M3 MBA but only do light basic stuff. If I were you I would prefer the M3 pro cause it gives you more connectors and better external display support plus active cooling for demanding tasks.

Definitely go for the Pro. I've had my old M1 Pro up against my daughter's M3 MBA and the M1 Pro is still better. The screen, ports, sustained performance, sound quality and the general feel are much better.

What are using as your current setup and what are the limitations?

If you have Intel machines Apple's M series will be a jump in performance. Have you run into ram limitations?

If your current setup is older but still quite up to task overall then an M3 Air with more memory may be your best bet.

Unless you are running Ito processor related speed issues, a faster processor (M3 vs M3Pro vs M3 Max) is not likely to be much of a difference and certainly not the price difference. Extra ram is nice especially if you run ram intensive programs.

The Pros have a nicer screen - will that be an issue or will you finish post on a desktop?

Are there any features of the Pro you must have - the screen, ports etc?

Does your workflow need/can it take advantage of the extra performance of one of the chips only available in the MBP?

Which form factor do you prefer?

With graphic design, I think a lack of RAM will be more of an issue than the processor speed. I recommend getting the Air just because it has more memory.
