Hey guys,

I purchased my Macbook Air yesterday from Apple's UK site and it stated 5-7 days for shipping. Received my order confirmation early this morning and the estimated dates are as follows:

"We estimate your order to be shipped on or before 17 Mar, 2008 - 19 Mar, 2008.
We estimate your order will be delivered to your shipping address on or before 28 Mar, 2008 - 02 Apr, 2008."

Is there any explanation for this?

Supply and Demand, unfortunately, Apple probably didn't prepare for such a demand on the MBA, so unfortunately they are scrambling to make more and get it more readily available.

Just be patient, it is work the wait! :D

I hope they dont scramble too much where there might be problems with the machine! I am willing to wait as long as it comes in perfectly working order with none of these overheating and fan issues.

Really looking forward to getting it :)

I am sure that they are ironing out the first batch issues, like the fan, overheating, 1 core shutdown, etc. I had a bluetooth issue with mine where there was severe lag tracking with my wireless mighty mouse. Don't worry, it will be well worth the weight and hopefully you will get one in a new batch that has taken care of the initial issues. Is this your first mac?

I hope you're right and all the problems have been ironed out. I see many people on here are having no trouble at all with theirs and i just wonder when they purchased them?

This is my first MAC, cant wait! Tried OS X and it is miles ahead of Vista. Been a PC user for about 10 years now but looking forward to the change

Like I mentioned, I am on my second MBA, but that's the price I pay for being an "early adapter." Even if something is wrong with it, just call the 800 number or go to the apple store within the first 14 days of ownership and they will replace it for free. And remember, you have a year's worth of warranty unless you get applecare which will extend it to three. I've had 4 apple notebooks and problems with each one - but then again, I really abuse my notebooks and they rarely ever stay on the desk. What's the point of a notebook if you can't tote it everywhere!!!

I've been a mac user for the past 6 years and there is no turning back. OS X's simplicity, ease of use and all the power underneath is really great stuff - not to mention now since every mac product has intel CPU's - the flexibility is second to none!

Welcome to MR, you will find some good people here (for the most part) that will give you some great advice.

I'm on my second MBA. There were some issues on some of the first MBAs.
And Apple is exchanging them.

The problems? Loose trackpad clicker. And overheating resulting in 1 core shutting down.

These problems have been fixed.

Ordered my 1.8 SSD on the 14th February, somewhere on the high seas between here and China, due on the 13th March. They do seem to be struggling to keep up with demand.

My Macbook Air shipped yesterday! Couldn't believe it.

It says 'Merge in Transit GB' as the shipping method from 'Synchron Technology.' Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks

Well guys, eventually Apple have put the tracking details up of MBA. It is scheduled for delivery tomorrow 2 weeks ahead of what they first suggested. I got my invoice and from the serial number on it, my machine is going to be week 10 so i hope everything will be grand with it.

Cant wait until tomorrow!

Finally it has arrived. Currently in the middle of re-installing OS X. Managed to save myself 6 GB's of space.

Hope everything runs smooth with it.

Be sure to post back-- Mine arrives on Friday, I am still in minor shock over the quick shipping.

Well guys, Macbook Air has started like a dream.

Re-installed OS X and saved myself 6 GB's of space. All setup and running perfectly. Fans have never been over 2500RPM so far and i've had quite a few applications running while i set the machine up. Briefly watched a YouTube video and had no problems with it so far.

Its all good and the laptop is beatiful.

I have feeling it is going to be my perfect companion
