macbook air or macbook pro for aperture user on the go

hi guys, this are very confusing times for me. i have a macbook white 2.0ghz and an imac 2.0ghz. the imac is blazing fast even those the speed specs looks the same ( could someone help me out with this confusing thing please?)

anyway thats not my main purpose for posting here. there's an offer to get a macbook air at half its price and it looks very feasible. my macbook is has a spoiling disc drive (girlfriend dropped my mac) and constant flickering screen ( shake the lid to cure it, wth??) and i am really sick of it. one year plus and its failing me.

ok to cut it short, i travel a lot and even though my magnificent imac is blazing fast, i am a student and need to deliver my work on that day itself, so i can't go home and use it. so, anyone using macbook air and thinks that it's faster than a conroe/Merom core 2 duo macbook? or at least as fast? (senseless i know but if my new imac can beat my old macbook, i guess it might be possible?)

help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!



btw i use aperture and i shoot in raw. macbook's painful enough but it's cheaper than macbook pro

Get the Pro 15". The Air is great and I love mine but I suspect the lack of storage space will be a problem for you.

MacBook Pro. You'll appreciate the extra RAM (should you upgrade to 4GB), HDD space, CPU speed, GPU, screen size, the matte display and FW800 for external drives.

In fact, the MBP is better in almost every single way for what you are doing.

yea... got the macbook pro! i hope i don't regret, haha, the only thing i regret about this sexy machine is the size. and of course the price in which my dad had to pay >.<

I have an Air, I shoot RAW and I use Aperture. It's fine. I went to an Aperture Workshop at the Apple Store, took my Air along and it kept up with the presentation machine no problem. I use an old 60Gb iPod as my portable photo storage so that I don't use up too much HD space on the Air.

Oh, and another thing (lol)....

In my rucksack I can carry around my Air, Canon 400d, Lenses, wires etc etc and still have room for a banana or two. Don't think there would be that much space - or strength in my shoulder - if I had a MacBook Pro.

You won't notcie the processor speed - the HDD speed and the lack of a proper graphics card more as Aperture is a heavily core image leveraged program.

It'll run OK but it'll fly on a MacBook Pro with 4GB of RAM.
