image.jpg Lately I wanted to format my MacBook Air 2016 edition and for that I thought I should eject and erase Macintosh HD too and well somehow I did it and now I cannot install OS High Sierra on my MacBook Air because I have no storage slot for it. The “Macintosh HD” is gone and I’m left with OSX Base System. Please help me to recover my MacBook Air!

Attach a flash key to see if that appears in disk utility. If it does and there is enough space, you can actually install OSX to the flash key and boot from that.

The sign could be an indication of a bad drive too.

Which Air do you have?

You can also try to boot from network installer, which downloads OSX base system to your computer. You will have a chance to install the OSX that comes with your computer. You can update later.

This ought to work for you. Shut the computer down, then restart while holding Command+R. It will boot into recovery which should give you the option to reinstall macOS over the Internet. You should maybe use disk utility to wipe the drive before you install it.

Reading it again it almost sounds like you are already in Recovery and the drive is not available. Is that the case?

Yes but after installing extenal flash drive, somehow I found Apple SSD and Container disk 1. I thought of installing the OS high Sierra on one the aforementioned slots, but none of the slots appear when I’m about to download OS high Sierra. To be more precise, here are the pictures

How shall I do it?

Maybe take it to an apple store for diagnosis?
I did like you said; install a flash key... well after doing that I clicked Show All Devices and I found internal storage:- Apple SSD and Container disk 1. So I thought of installing OS High Sierra on one of the slots but here’s what happened...

Ok it appears you deleted Macintosh HD from inside Container Disk 1. You should be able to highlight Apple SSD (you could try Container Disk 1 first but i think you want Apple SSD) and go to the top and hit Erase. It will give you options to name the disk, partition type (HFS+ or APFS), and make sure the bottom one is GUID Partition Map. Hit Erase and then you should have a disk to install macOS onto.
