MacBook Air Rev. A - internal USB drive?

Can this be done? I have been reading that there are too many issues getting zif and pata solutions to work, but will an internal USB drive work?
Are you thinking that it could be used as a boot drive?
if so, this would be a horrible step backward in performance because of the transfer speed of USB itself.
I was hoping to strip down a usb thumb drive and squeeze it in somewhere - know there are 32GB avail. that whould bring the Rev. A. up to 80+32 internal... not fantastic... but better than nothing
Why would you want to do this??? For a mere extra 32GB storage? You'd be better off looking at and spending on a solution to swapout your rev.A 80GB HDD altogether. Problems exist because of the bespoke ZIF/PATA config, but it has been done. Or else sell your rev.A and buy a refurb rev.B 120GB HDD.

I've heard that the MBA has extra internal USB buses (or was it that the single USB port was connected to multiple buses?) I suppose you could if you found the right parts and assuming it would be do able.
The extra 32 GB would be nice if you wanted to store music and documents because the slow transfer speed wouldn't effect it because they are files. HD movies may be pushing it though.
Interesting and innovative idea. If you know a lot about circuit (logic) boards, and how to solder, someone has posted where to find several internal USB connection points on the Rev A MBA logic board.

I am not a big original MBA fan, but would be cool to see some alterations like that. I am a tech fan, and I think an original MBA could be fun to modify and play with cool ideas like that.
