Well... 2 macbook airs thus far. First one had lines and dead pixels. Second one has the USB port was broken and not bootable and the battery only has 90% health. This time I get a $100 credit to upgrade to the SSD model. (yay) CSR mentioned that in the very unlikely event the next one has similar issues, I will be given "more extreme options."

You know... I never have problems when I buy apple products. It is great to see when you do, they are willing to actually step up to the plate and make good on it. They could just as easily say "heh... why dont you just take a refund"

I will post here with further progress as it happens.

A lousy $100 off for your time, when you are buying seven-month-old technology, is a joke! The discount should be $500 right now. The sad part is seven months later the MBAs still have lines. Shows us how much Apple cares. That is really sad.

I would rather pay full price, get a good MBA the first try, and be done and using it rather than the trouble and hassle for a lousy $100 when you are paying $2500 for a Mac that should be trouble free!

I saw the lines on a rev B today at a retail store. It's a real issue and I would have noticed it even if I had never been to this forum.

For me personally it would be too much of an issue even if I had picked up a refurb. I think that the screens should be fixed.

Have you guys uniformly had luck in getting Apple to repair these screens? Or are they saying 'within normal spec'?

UPDATE:
Replacement had the horizontal lines issue, so they are replacing it with a *NEW* Rev B 1.8 SSD model....

This is why I like apple  Replacing a $1099 model with a $2400 model... NICE!
