MacBook Air: Rev B or Rev C?

If you had the choice to get a:

• MacBook Air Rev. B - 1.86 GHz - 128 GB SSD (without any issues and top notch condition) for 1300 EUR
• new MacBook Air Rev. C - 2.13 Ghz - 128 GB SSD at the Apple Store for 1600 EUR

which one would you go for?

Rev B, save the money. I have had a great experience with mine. Work perfect.

Rev C is not worth the extra money compared to Rev B... If you're getting a new product, same warranty and stuff, I'd get the Rev B. I've owned one for quite a while, and LOVED it.

I doubt the processor difference is really noticeable.

The Rev. B still has warranty until the end of the year and I'd expand its warranty via an ACPP right after the purchase. The Air has been used by an Apple software developer and it doesn't have any issues. It also doesn't have a single scratch!

Great choice , I'd say use that extra 300 EURO on accessories and stuff, you'd be much happier

Well, I have actually decided to wait for the next revision of the Air. I can wait longer than half a year, no problem.

There are a few features that I'd love to see in early 2010: built-in 3G, the established glass trackpad, perhaps a larger SSD (128 GB is enough for me, though) and the ability to opt-in for 4 GB RAM.

B or I would go to a A again with a SSD drive Macmall has them new for 1100.00 and I loved mine the lines killed me on my B so done with that.

I have a rev C, and I would have said defintely worth extra for GPU, CPU and battery gains. I am an MBA fan, but I applaud your decision if you're currently happy with your current Mac. At the same time, I expect the next revision will have 4 GB RAM and some adds like glass trackpad, but I think it will cost more also. I think Apple will just add a new high-end and keep the current high end as low end. I really expect to pay a lot more when I have to upgrade next. The $1799 price tag is a bargain.

@Scottsdale: I love my MBP, but it's just too heavy and powerful for my "everyday campus tasks". I adore the perfect design and lightness of the Air, I've fallen in love with it since it was introduced. If Apple implements the features I've mentioned, I'll be enchanted.

That's what I am waiting for again.

Won't go back until the line issue in non-existent and the following:

- Glass Trackpad
- 256 SSD (I know none are available yet)
- 4 gigs of Ram

By then, I may also get rid of my iMac for a decked out Mac Pro...we shall see.

I have a MBA , uMBP and uMB.(uMBP and uMB have glass trackpad)

I dont see the big difference between the glass trackpad and the one on the MBA.

Am I missing something? What are the benefits? I love the trackpad on the MBA

The trackpad on the Air might scratch the silver bezel near the iSight camera. A thin black line appears. This is a well known issue...happened to me on a number of different Air's, both pre and post repair.

Also, the Glass Trackpad is smoother and is simply better in my opinion.

I love both, what I hate is touching any other trackpad on a Windows laptop after knowing how good they can be on my Macs

That is SO true. My friend book a gigantic 17" windows machine (it's really enormous. He doesn't even take it around because of the size, which I guess defeats the purpose!) and the Trackpad sucks. They have all of those extra sensors and buttons...one is enough when you have multitouch. Love the Apple Trackpads, always have.

If only they would make a bluetooth one and I could ditch the might mouse or make some kind of hybrid between the two.

Yeah they have 5 buttons and require scrolling to be done on the edges (if at all)

Terrible, terrible. I guess fingerprint sensors for the win? those are terrible too.

Well, I couldn't work on it for 30 minutes, and I'm not doing any high-tech graphical stuff, just coding and email&web. Only used the rev C though. Apparently if you get rev B there's a chance you'll have a decent display. On the rev C they're only using the crappy one they used in some of the rev B's. Probably that's why they lowered the price by so much, to get rid of the laptops. Apart from the lines issue, the resolution is just poor, but you'll have the same problem with any Apple laptop apart from the 17 inch MBP. Anyway, I'd either get the working rev B, or wait for D. Just my two cents. Why buy a product that costs a premium but is imperfect?

PS: Aren't chinese also making Dell's/Lenovo's displays? Doesn't seem to be a problem there as they are a thousand times better (and not broken, yes, the rev C displays are BROKEN) than the MBA display for sure. Oh how I wish I wasn't dependent on Apple's software monopoly...

The difference is significant! The buttons of the Air are located on the bottom of its trackpad, the glass trackpad is different: the entire trackpad is the button. The texture of the glass trackpad is perfect and unlike everything else I have used. In fact, I have been a long time mouse user who disliked trackpads, but since I'm using my glass trackpad I have entirely ditched my mouse. I don't even like to use it anymore, the glass trackpad is amazingly nicer. I can imagine that Apple is planning to introduce an external glass trackpad for desktop macs.

However, the Macbook Air trackpad button is prone to scratching the bezel near the iSight camera. Poorly designed, like many other issues the Air has had over its 3 versions.

fair enough. I am enjoying my MBA but I will surely keep an eye out on my bezel near my isight.
