Hey,
I;m tryingto decide between the Apple laptop option and had a couple of quesiotn about the Air (used to have a rev.c Air that I really liked).
a) Does the Rev.C Air have longer battery life?
b)Is the screen still better than the Macbook Pro 13" or is it the same now?
and...
c) Is the graphics chip in the Air cripples vs. the Macbook Pro 13"
Thanks!
I highly recommend the MacBook Air rev B/C with SSD.
The rev C battery is lasting about 45 minutes longer than my rev B did.
I believe the display is MUCH nicer in that it isn't made with glass, so it's not super glossy. The glossy MBA display is beautiful. Now, SOME MBAs have very faint lines that are gray and show up on white backgrounds sometimes at some angles. The truth is most people cannot see them if they don't look for them. I have found them, and they do suck when bad, but most MBAs do not suffer severe lines just extremely faint lines only visible a small portion of the time and usually only visible within four to six inches. NOT USUALLY DURING NORMAL VIEWING DO THE LINES AFFECT PICTURE QUALITY.
The GPU in both the MBA rev C, MBP 13" and low end MBP 15" are ALL NVIDIA 9400m. It's an excellent GPU which has made the MBA the amazing Mac notebook it is. It truly performs like a workhorse yet is super thin and lightweight.
Very few people need more capabilities than is offered in the rev C MBA with SSD. The SSD, GPU, CPU, and 1066 MHz RAM are plenty powerful enough for the average Mac user. I absolutely LOVE mine. It is amazing and fun in every way. When plugged into a 24" LED ACD, it feels like a Mac Pro.
Don't let people steer you wrong because more RAM sounds better and PRO sounds more powerful. My MBA does everything I need it to from movies/entertainment, to intensive apps like Photoshop, to all the normal things like iLife and iWork.
Definitely must get the SSD model, and both rev B and C with SSD can be had fairly inexpensively at Apple.com in the refurbished section. Rev B 1.86/SSD for $1449, and rev C 2.13/SSD for $1549.
Best wishes.
