Hi I have a space grey MacBook Air that I have accidentally scratched, I have tried a couple of methods such as lightly rubbing toothpaste onto it to try and remove it but I think it is too deep.

Has anyone here had this and is there anything that could maybe help? Ive seen touch up paints online but can't find any reviews.

Many thanks :)

You won't believe me, but the best thing to do is leave it. After a few days you will realise that a scratch on a laptop, whilst being an aesthetic issue, doesn't otherwise diminish the laptop in any way. Plus, you'll stop being paranoid and will use the laptop as it's designed - to be carried around and used wherever with the occasional ding.

I've had the scratch for a little while now maybe about a month or slightly longer, and yes I see exactly where you're coming from as most of the time when I'm using the laptop I never even notice it 😅. However my ocd sometimes gets the better of me and I get the urge to try and fix it 😂.

You're not going to remove a scratch that goes through the anodization to the raw aluminum with polishing. I imagine out there in the world there are people making paint kits to cover up stuff like that.

(edit)
And @adrianlondon just posted a link to one.

Does anyone know whether the silver version of the MacBook is less resistant to scratches on the coating? I was under the impression they’re both anodised, so would be equally susceptible. Could be that it shows up less though.

I had the same thought when I got my new Jeep. Only the first one hurts.
Two days after I bought my Jeep Wrangler, someone rear-ended me. Thankfully a Wrangler has metal bumpers and I came out of it with barely a scratch, but it totaled the front end of her plastic car. Even the cop who showed up to take the accident report commented, "Man, you made out like a bandit." Twenty minutes later I drove away. She was towed.
