I saw someone selling a brand new macbook air with max specs on Kijiji. The asking price of $4,500 seemed a bit high but then I saw that it was signed by 50 Cent. I still wouldn't pay that much for it haha, just thought I'd share. Here are the pics:

I'd post the link to the item on Kijiji but I'm not sure if that goes against forum rules. If it doesn't, let me know and I'll share the link :D

Why do people think that having random items signed by random people who have no affiliation with that product are worth stupid amounts of money?

He didn't design the MBA. He isn't part of the marketing material. He has no tie to Apple what-so-ever. So why would you want him to deface your computer?

Have him sign a CD or DVD or poster or something.

This one is as bad the iPhone signed by Gaga a few months ago.

Looks like there is a skin on that laptop, the reflections give it away. So you can just peel it off.

Either way, looks terrible.

What are your thoughts on clothes?

As a performer I've signed a bunch of stuff, but I usually feel iffy signing kids new jeans or brand name hoodies though. I've come to terms with signing arms and stuff, since even though the marker is permanent it will wash off in a few days. Shoe's I'm fine with. But I'm always worried the parents might take your stance and be unhappy with me signing the kids clothes.

So if it was signed by one of the engineers who worked on the development of the air it would be worth something? LOL

"hey this MBA is signed by john smith senior engineer at apple I'll sell it to you for $6,000 bucks"

Unrelated to thread topic but to answer your question.

I can understand the excitment of meeting ones "idol" or the like and wanting something to remember that meeting with. To me a picture with that person would be the best choice and I understand that sometimes cant happen.

I guess I can see signing a shirt as something you can frame or hold onto, but grabbing some random object (ie your MBA) just seems silly.

I sold a car to a famous local football star once and while we were finishing up one of the guys asked if he could get this persons autograph. I figured he had a jersy or football or something, but no. He pulls off his suit jacket and has this person sign across the back of his white dress shirt.

It was just silly and random but to each his own I guess.
