Hey all, I was thinking of getting a refurbed MacBook Air and as I had one before and had to return it because the logic board was fried, I was wondering if Apple has fixed these issues? Also, being a refurb would they definitely make sure its not having those heat/core shutdown issues? Thanks for your help...

had mine for 2 months no problems at all

watched 2 HD TV shows from iTunes without a problem as well as youtube, ichat etc for prolonged periods. I did experience one slowdown but this occurred when I had the macbook air sitting on my knees and the vents were 80% blocked and I was running youtube (CPU temp went to 80C). After clearing the vents the temps dropped and no slow down or skipping.

mine had core shutdowns but the newest updates has tweaked things. i feel like my mba is all drugged up, no more shutdowns but now everything runs slower than it did before.

id wait till october 14 and scoop a new one or a new 13" alum macbook

Had mine since launch - no problems in months.

I don't remember which patch finally did the trick, there have been so many of them :D but I think it is much better now.

Initially I ran coolbook but found it unnecessary at some point during the summer - so now everything is OK with the stock OS.

Personally I would wait until the 14th, just in case. I don't expect a MBA revision, but there could be a price drop.....

I've personallynever seen the issue on my MBA (she has been loaded enough to stutter tho) but never a panic or shutdown.

Interestingly when I run lots of apps shes fine, but If I hook up the 30" Dell and run two screens with Video on the bigger one, she judders and is quite unresponsive (not totally unusable but enough to be very irritating).

(and thats running the Dell at 1280x800)
