I've noticed that my macbook can pick up a lot more wireless networks than both my imac and my macbook pro. I was wondering if this was something general with all macbooks and if anyone else has noticed this. Also, if this really is true, would it be possible to switch the card in my macbook to the macbook pro? I know it's not really a user-installable part but I'm not too afraid of opening the laptops.

The Wireless reception I had in my MacBook was certainly better than what I get with my G4 PowerBook, but I wouldn't say it's any better than my iMac.
I doubt you'd see any benefit in putting a MacBook card into a MacBook Pro as I suspect it's the MacBook Pro's casing which stops it getting as good a reception.

If you have the Macbook Core 2 Duo, you have the newest Airport Extreme card, the wireless N. The wireless N card is has much better range and, if conntected to a wireless n router, is unbelieably faster too. An upgrade is possible and there are a few articles on it. Check which antenna yours uses (whether it be the 2 antenna or 3 antenna version) and then you can look at which upgrade you'd need. I believe the Macbook Pro uses the 2 antenna version. This upgrade's about $50.
Ah I never thought about the casing, what a bummer. As for my macbook, I have the earliest revision so I doubt it uses the newer card. Thanks anyways though.
