Macbook Airport failing?

I have a CD Macbook....

Recently I've noticed that my Macbook keeps losing it's connection to my wifi network. The icon in the menu bar still shows it as connected and the signal is at full strength, also in the network pref it says airport is connected but it just stops working.

I can't access any urls or even log into the router. I have to manually disconnect from the network and re-connect for it to work again, this is happening a few times per day now as well.

All other machines on my network don't have this problem. Failing Airport card perhaps?

I'm seeing *exactly* the same behaviour on a new SR C2D MBP. The only resolution I've been able to find is disabling/re-enabling the airport using the menu icon. I'm running OS X 10.4.10 and all recent updates are installed. I really hoped the last airport update might resolve this, but so far it has continued to happen - sometimes happening multiple times in a row! I'll try the SMC reset suggested above, but I'm not certain this type of reset will have any impact on the wireless.

Are you by any chance using an Airport extreme as wireless router?
 
Have the same problem... Even tried going with an N router same results (actually worse :()

I've read quite a few threads about this... So it is a known problem..
 
i just started having this problem after a few last updates, i believe after the EFI firmware update, before that i had no problem whatsoever


any help out there APPLE? (how can u break a technology that has been stable for YEARS!!!)


makes downloading anything impossible because it always cuts out


.... ehh gotta be driver issue, as i have no problems in Vista..... (guess i will be using windows till they fix this crap) bleh
 
My SR MBP had the problem out of the box - before any patches/fixes/updates were applied. It may have improved slightly (happens less often) since the last wireless update, but that's only subjective at this stage.

Really wish they'd sort this!!
 
I'm not sure whether to blame the Airport Extreme, the MBP (both new) or the combination of the two that causes the issue. I'm tempted to take the Airport back this weekend as at least if they exchange it I'd [probably] get the gigabit model! Not that it would actually *work* any better.

It's a shame as when it's working, the 'N' networking flies!

Don't blame the Airport Extreme. It's not its fault. Blame the cruddy drivers Apple keeps releasing to break Macbook Airports.
 
Add me to the list with a new (refurb) Blackbook. It drops at times but it doesnt show connected on the bar. I turn off and on to reconnect.

It did not do this yesterday before I put all of the software updates on. It shipped with 10.4.8 I think.

The only thing you can do is backup your stuff, & reinstall OSX. If your Airport works at this point, do yourself a favor and don't install any Airport updates.
 
I have all updates installed, and it was only after the latest Airport update that this started to happen on my MBP. It connects again after I open "Open Internet Connect" but then drops again about 5 minutes after that.

But after the latest update I haven't experienced any kernel panics when running on battery... So for me it's the choice between dropped connectoin or kernel panics :(.

Does anybody know if I can uninstall the latest Airport update and roll back the driver that came before that?
