I just got my 2Ghz MB. I also got applecare with it. What is the disc that comes with the applecare box for? I just registered and chucked it in my MB box. Also, if your MB was a gift do you still need the original receipt for warranty purposes?

i dont think you need the receipt unless you want to return/exchange. apple just needs your serial number and it will show all your information like date of purchase etc, so they know when your warranty ends and stuff.

The disc that comes w/ Applecare has some sort of software for diagnosing if your hardware has a problem (right? Hopefully someone w/ more knowledge will respond ).

As for the receipt, it could be helpful in case there's a discrepancy on Apple's end about what date the AppleCare starts/ends, the receipt would help prove the date of purchase (of the machine).
