Does anyone have Kismac? It's a wireless hacking program.

I just want to know if it actually works well and if anyone has the correct download link because on their website, theres like 50 links.

From their website:

Please note: This program is not intended for novices, but for professional users. Take this as a warning

Apparently it can runs on a laptop. See at the top, a battery icon?

That doesn't mean anything at all.

Kismac's website specifically states that it supports early Airport wireless cards but that Airport Extreme cards are not yet fully supported. And Airport Extreme is what ships with new laptops.

I have Kismac installed, and while it sort of works, none of the stuff you'd actually want to use it for works on the Macbook. The Airport Extreme is supported only in active mode, which means all it can do is scan for access points, none of the cool WEP/WPA stuff.

Supposedly there is passive support for the Airport Extreme in the development branch of Kismet -- though I tried it and could not get it to work :(.

I am curious, you mention having no luck installing KisMAC from development branch? I take this to mean you compiled from source, can you provide any tips to a fellow geek trying the same approach?

Also, I am not sure if anyone else is having this problem or not but I will post it anyway. I am fairly certain its a driver problem, when I load KisMAC I can't get it to work with any of the drivers. I'm working with a new MacBook, recently purchased inside of the last couple months. I have tried selecting every driver from the list, respectively, but none of them seem to work. Reading around, it seems like driver issues manifest themselves in different ways for other people which is why I'm unsure if my anyone else has encountered my problem. I am however, willing to take a leap of faith and assume that there is some wonky intel card in this thing (although a check of System Profiler gives no hint), and that I will need the development source, leading to my question at the top.

Cheers.
