What happens if I try to use the MB charger on the MBP and vice versa?

The MagSafe chargers for the MacBook and MacBook Pro are the same. You can use either charger with either laptop; they're the same thing.

Edit: Forget that. It appears that the adapters are not the same. The MacBook's power adapter is a 60W AC adapter, and the MacBook Pro's is 85W. So you won't be able to get a sufficient charge through the socket with a MacBook charge to charge a MacBook Pro.

There was another post like this about using chargers. You can use the MBP with the regular MacBook charger, however your battery will charge at a slower rate, and if you increase the load on the MBP, it will start taking some power off the battery itself. Besides that, there is no other harm done from my knowledge. I have personally run my MBP off of a MB charger from a friend of mines and I experienced no damage.

That's correct. I bought an extra magsafe for my macbook and purposely bought the 85W version just in case I decide to upgrade to a pro down the road. I use it daily with no problems. In fact, I noticed on the box that it said "for use only with the macbook pro or macbook".

Got an answer from a previous Apple engineer on the official forums, and I thought I'd share it in case anybody here wanted to know for sure.

As a former Apple notebook R+D engineer...there is no danger whatsoever. The power adapter can't provide "too much power". However, the notebook can demand too much power and, as another poster indicated, it will take longer to charge the battery. Too, if you are using the lower power charger and using your computer, the battery will drain faster than the power adapter will charge it...and your computer will shut down...and the battery will charge.

Anything connected to a power supply will draw exactly as much power from the supply as it needs. If this is more than the power supply is rated for, then the lifetime of that power supply will be reduced. If you draw much more power, then you might get into serious trouble.

So using an MBP power supply on a MB is no problem. Using a MB power supply on a MBP shouldn't be done for extended length of time. It is probably ok to charge the MBP while it is not running, or keep it charged when the battery is full, but if you use an MB power supply on the MBP all the time, there is a good chance that it will eventually die.
