Macbook and MSN

Hi all,

I am so excited today as I just bought my Macbook 2Ghz white color. I have been waiitng forever for it to arrive here in my country the United Arab Emirates.

Well, I am a bit new to the Mac world so I wanted to get your advice on the best way to download the MSN messanger to my MAC. Because I have tried downloading and the exe file will not open! So is there a special thing for MAC ?

Welcome to MR and congrats on your Mac.

Are you running MacOS X (Tiger) on this Mac or Windows? .exe files are Windows programs.

To find out about Mac versions of MS software, visit Mactopia. You can get MSN Messenger there.

For some MS programs availble there, you may need Stuffit Expander.

Please be aware that the Mac version of MSN Messenger does NOT support webcam. The current alternatives are discussed in other threads here, including Mercury Messenger, aMSN, using Skype, and using iChatAV and AIM.

If you do only text-based IM, you may wish to consider Adium or Proteus.

Since you have a MacBook, you can install Windows XP and get proper MSN Messenger that way!

By the way I am falling in love with my MACBOOK ! It is soo coool, I started using the i photo and i cal, its sooOo Awesome

I would really recommend using adium its a far superior piece of software compared to msn.
