Macbook and RAM

Hi everyone,

I am planning on buying a macbook soon. I wish to upgrade it to 1GB of ram. I was wondering what kind of RAM is compatible with MacBook?

I am also planning to buy a wireless router. Since this is my first mac ever, I was wondering if any 802.11 g/b routers are not compatible with the macbook?

lastly (kinda of topic... ), anyone know any store in Akihabara that sells cheap routers and computer's accessaries?

Thank you for the help. Is there any ways to find out the brand of the RAM?
I am currently living in Japan....and I don't have a credit card....

The brand is your choice, if I am not mistaken, Crucial sells RAM under there own name, in other words, it is Crucial brand RAM.

So, if you are looking to buy the RAM from a retail store here is what to look for:
67MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300)
They recomend putting in matched pairs.

If you are looking for 1 GB and you think that is where you want to keep it, you might just buy the MacBook with 2x512MB installed. My local Apple store has these models in stock. It is $100 more.

The Airport Extreme wireless card is 802.11g and is backwards compatible with 802.11b.

If you have not purchased a router, however, you should go for 802.11g since it is the newer technology.

As far a specific routers are concerned, do a quci search for compatibility, here and on Apple discussions (http://discussions.apple.com).
