Got a black Macbook for work that that needs a reinstall of Tiger but the previous person doesn't have the CDs. Apparently my wifes black macbook cds don't work with the laptop and neither did different Tiger CDs.

Anytime I tried the install it says the copy cannot be installed on the machine. Any ideas?

retail tiger cds are for powerpc macs only. if you need a fresh install of tiger, you should contact apple and let them know of your situation. they'll probably ship you a new set of install disks.

I guess if it boils down to it I can install Leopard 9A559 on it.

Yeah... the Macbook in your sig (CD) is the one you're talking about, right? I'm guessing that your wife's MB is a C2D model? Usually installation discs will only work on the model and generation that they were shipped with. If you can find someone else with a Core Duo Macbook, it's probably OK to just get a copy of their install DVD (since you have a license for it by virtue of the Macbook itself). It should work with any Core Duo Macbook, irrespective of color, processor speed, configuration, etc. It just can't be a C2D Macbook or another kind of Mac.

Got an Apple store nearby? I'm sure they could have you up and running in no time without the hassle of getting replacement disks sent out and all that jazz.
