macbook as a desktop replacement

hopefully, in the next few weeks, i'll be buying a macbook, 1st mac also. and was wondering, how long should i leave it on for? my dell desktop stays on from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. everyday. will the macbook take this?

Yes, easily. Mine's on for at least that long every day...usually 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM

My MacBook Pro (not quite the same machine, but similar in many respects) is on 24/7, no issues at all. Reduces heating bills though!

You can leave your MacBook on all the time and let it sleep when you're not using it. It's actually better to leave your Mac running since OS X will run some basic checks on the system to make sure everything is working.

Not a long time really, (12PM is midday).
