Macbook Audio

Hi,
I will be buying a macbook in the summer and would like to know about the sound output. Is it hust dtereo sound or does it deliver surround sound?? I will need to know if i should buy a 2:1 or a 5:1 speaker setup.
Any help will be appreciated,

MacBook has an Analog+Digital Output

It has a Stereo Output which can be also used as a Digital Output. I don't exactly know which format it supports, but I assume 5.1 is very possible.

It just outputs stereo. You could get an external usb connected audio card for very cheap (£60) that will do 5.1, if that is necessary.

No. Stereo will do. Anyway thanks guys. Any idea about speakers under £60 - $100?? I am looking at the Creature IIs at the moment because thy are apparently quite good and they look cool.
