macbook awakes while closed

my sr macbook will randomly spinup the harddrive an light the apple while closed and sleeping and on ac power, what might be causing this, it is just sitting on a table and not being touched

This happens to me sometimes. My external display suddenly shows when in sleep sometimes

Look into the possibility of "wake on LAN" activity.

go to Energy Saver settings - click Options - it may be checked.

There are also similar "wake on bluetooth" settings

happens to me all the time on my MBP...

usually what causes it for me is if my usb mouse is still plugged in, i move the mouse and it'll awake, also if i plug/unplug anything from the ports (firewires, usb, headphones/mic, etc...) while its closed.
